GRF Student Participation - Oral Presenters

Each presentation will last 15 minutes.
  • Arrive before the session.

  • Each session (e.g., 1:15-2:30 p.m.) has 4 presentations of 15 minutes each with 5 minutes to switch equipment and presenters. Plan to be in the room the entire time. DO NOT arrive for just your presentation and then leave. This is very rude and inconsiderate to the other presenters.

  • Make sure the room in which you are presenting has the requested equipment.

  • Plan for equipment failure! If using PowerPoint, also bring overheads. Prepare to speak without any visuals. Be flexible and able to change format within a moments notice.

  • Remember, if you have not turned in your PowerPoint presentation on CD-ROM or sent by email to graduate_school@emich.edu by Tuesday, March 16, 2010, you will NOT be allowed to insert your own CD into the computers provided in the presentation room.

  • Meet the faculty member who will serve as the room moderator.

    • He/She will introduce you and your faculty sponsor and state the title of your presentation.

    • He/She will watch the clock and give notice twice: when two minutes are left and when time is up.

    • The five minutes between presentations may be used to answer questions. The next student will set up his/her equipment (if different) during that time.
